The SmartCity project was launched in Malta in 2007 to generate more than 8,500 employment opportunities for Maltese and foreign residents. The SmartCity project is a technology park built on the Ricasoli Industrial Estate, and when completed this development will be a state-of-the-art information technology and media city, based upon the Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media city.
